Salary: 23.95 - $35.92 / Hour D.O.Q.

Under limited supervision, performs plan review to assure compliance with NC State Building codes. Performs professional and highly technical level work in the technical construction code field by the review of plans, specifications, and calculations to verify conformance to the technical construction related codes as adopted by the State of North Carolina and City of Fayetteville. Provide information to the public and other staff members for the building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing aspects of these technical codes. Assist when necessary with the permit application process by ensuring the completeness of applications and supporting documentation. Performs related work as required and related regulations as directed by Ordinance, Resolution, and State law.


Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible plans examiner and/or inspection experience involving the full range of plans examiner and/or inspection duties.

 

Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in construction management, civil engineering architecture or a related field.

 

Licensing & Certification: Required: North Carolina Building Standard Inspection Level III certification, and Level II certifications in the Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical trades. Two years or minimum time needed to schedule classes will be given to obtain Level III certification in all trades. Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver's license and maintain vehicle insurability with the City of Fayetteville.
