How are other inspection departments in the State looking at the use of ProPress?
ProPress has been used for years with plumbing piping. It is very good for renovations where the water piping is of different types. I would have concerns for using this product in gas piping systems without further supporting documentation. The ES report while giving a foundation of support, it does not offer protect for inspectors from the wide range of installations that could be encountered. I would like to see NCDOI evaluate this product for the use in gas piping. FYI Henry defered to the AHJ for approval.

I don't think we have had any ProPress in the Wake Co. jurisdiction. I went to a short seminar on ProPress about 6-7 years ago but, have had no oterh contact.
As a follow-up to my previous post, a Viega Representative contacted me pertaining to the use of Propress Fittings. I found on DOI's web-site some guidlines for accepting alternate methods and materials which I forwarded to the representative. It has some specific information to ask for when deciding to approve or disapprove an alternate material. There is a section at the bottom of DOI's reccomendations that briefly discusses the liability issues of alternate materials. Here's the link http://www.ncdoi.com...neering_wpt.asp which will take you to DOI's "white paper" section. Might be worth reading.
